In my last blog I was able to show Baby Chicks 1 & 2 and now with the birth of number seven I had to get a new cage to keep them all in until they are big enough to live outside with the other chickens.

In this entry I have added the latest pictures including the ones of number seven breaking out of her egg.

Snowball has taken his job of protecting his new chicken family very seriously and is guarding the new babies very well.

Even as a proud foster parent Snowball is like a lot of Dads and needs his nap time but he made sure Momma Hen was wide awake first.

The Wild Bunch here at Green Acres Fish Farm and Equine Sanctuary want to give you an opportunity to share in their daily experience through this Slide Show of their life.

OUR EASTER COLORS

April 3, 2010

You can not have Easter on any kind of farm without the Easter Rabbits and Easter Chickens, to Honor Easter here at Green Acres we naturally have the addition of our newest Baby Rabbit and our newest Baby Chicks to show off their fine new Easter Colors.

I just know everyone thought I was going to paint my rabbits and chickens for Easter but they came with beautiful colors from God.

HAPPY EASTER TO EVERYONE
FROM ALL OF US HERE AT
GREEN ACRES
OUR HEAVEN ON EARTH

Throughout history there have been many fine Medical Doctors, but in this blog you will find that there really is a “True Horse Doctor” named “Doctor Herbie”.  Now unlike most Medical Doctors, Doctor Herbie was trained in the Old School of Horse Medicine and learned through many years of dedicated experience.
Doctor Herbie has been keeping a very close eye on Cheyenne and has done a great job in her healing process.
Now during all this the Chief Administrator of this facility, “Goldie” contemplates the progress while she makes sure that she gets her share of the energy of the Great Sunshine.

Then when Cheyenne does get to be out she is accompanied  by her nurse Ogelita in her movements to make sure she doesn’t exert herself.

Cheyenne has learned that she must have Dr. Herbie’s permission if she wants to go out for exercise. He checks to make sure she is ready for activity.
During the morning check up, The Love Shack is content with hiding under a tree and having his morning Shredded Wheat or Hay as humans call it.
Of course now Nurse Ogelita is watchful during anything that might be happening in her area. She gracefully stays at attention just waiting for a chance to help in the rehabilitation.

Now for some good stuff,

Snowball Jr. has a wife

Snowflake. They are trying to

figure out the system of how it

works but they are planning a

large family.
Both of these two rabbits have

surveyed the size of their new

home space and decided it needs

some additional fixtures like

maybe a flat screened TV to

watch the Bugs Bunny cartoons

on.

Then now we must look at Momma Hen,

she had a problem with the cold weather

and only had two babies survive the cold.

She has a lot of spunk though, right now

she is taking care of the two babies while

she sets on fourteen (14) eggs for her next

bunch.  She is determined to fill the

chicken coop with her family.

Of course Momma Hen is utilizing her
team of Egg Layers and RoHo Rooster to
furnish the eggs.  She said if she has to sit
on those eggs and babysit then they can do
part of the work.

If at least one of these pictures does not make you smile, then you are grumpy and need to go back to  bed.

I planted fresh grass seed for the horses and it has just started to grow.
I looked out and Herbie, Ogelita and Cheyenne were patiently examining it. I explained to them that it has to grow.
Well they stood there patiently waiting for it to grow and finally Cheyenne looked over and said, it is done and started eating. Of course Herbie immediately snitched her out to me.

A great combination, a beautiful day and Fresh Grass.  Now they want sun glasses to laying in the sun.

I have added this update to show that with proper care and nourishment that horses become your lifelong friends. In fact at my age these horses will probably outlive me.

That is one of the main reasons that I keep stressing that an adoption means a lifelong commitment to the animal. No money in the bank could ever equal the pleasure you get from just a few minutes with the animals.

Snowball was at the feed stoe being sold along with her bothers and sisters for people to raise and eat. I decided to buy them and bring them home. I have plenty of room for them so it is no problem for me.
My first cage was not the best and they got out. I could catch all except Snowball. She is fast.
This land is all trees with all kinds of animals including owls, racoons, and predators that might eat her.
I named her Snowball because I didn’t think she had a snowballs chance in hell of making it a week.
I built a new cage for them and she now spends her time next to the cage and eats her meals with the others, she just won’t go for the cage idea.
